Hurricane Zeta is on its Way to the Gulf Coast

 Good Evening, We are watching every second of Tropical Storm Zeta, which is forecast to re-strengthen to a Hurricane in less than 24-36 hours from now.  First Alert Weather Day has been issued starting tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28 @ 3pm and running till Thursday, October 29 @ 3pm.  Along with all weather products, activation of second meteorologist, and level of operations at a level 5 has all been issued and signed. State of Emergency: Governor Ivey has issued a State of Emergency for Alabama. That went into effect at 4pm CST. you can find the order here:  State of Emergency for Zeta Central Alabama Impacts: Wind and rain will be our primary-highest impacts for us here in Central Alabama. Conditions start to deteriorate fast starting around 6pm on Wednesday and ending around mid-dat on Thursday.  Flash Flood Watch was just issued less than 60 mins ago. New things Coming!!

 Good Afternoon Central Alabama,  We have a few new things coming to Oak Grove Weather Station!!! First is a new member of the team! Our new team member is Alexander Roberts, he also is a student in college working to a meteorology degree as well. He is pursuing an Operational Meteorology degree (As I am pursuing a Broadcast Meteorology degree). Alex has his own page called Alabama Storm Alert Center that covers all of AL. Make sure you go give his page a like and follow. I have known Alex for a few years and his dedication to serve and update the state on changing weather is something we had to have on our team. Hurricane Sally is Moving Very Slow

 Good Evening Central Alabama,  There have been changes in the track of Hurricane Sally. I will be explaining the changes and updating you on about impacts here.  ***DUE TO THE UPDATED TRACK AND FORECASTED IMPACTS THE BRIEFING FOR TODAY HAS BEEN CANCELLED***  New Track? Hurricane Sally will be Impacting Central Alabama

 Good Afternoon/Evening Central Al, The time is now to prepare for Hurricane Sally as it gets closer and closer to Alabama. Make sure your emergency supplies kit is stocked up and ready to go. Have a plan ready to active if you have to move to higher ground due to Flash Flooding or a tornado warning is issued for your area.  Track of Hurricane Sally: The latest track of Hurricane Sally is below. We will get a new advisory at 4pm CST/ 5pm EST.  Flash Flooding Impacts: We could be seeing a Significant Flash Flooding setting up here in Central Alabama. The NWS office has issued a Flash Flood Watch for counties along I-20 and south of the corridor. Rainfall rates per hour is 2-3 inches per hour and total rates 6-12 inches of rainfall with localy higher amounts in the Watch area. Good Morning/Afternoon Alabama, What to Expect the Rest of the Day Today: Clouds are over much of the state, with the exception for extreme SouthEastern Alabama places like Dothan and Troy. This is the visible satellite image at 10:11am this morning. Today will be cloudy with highs from 65-71℉ today is the last day of dry weather for a couple of days so take advantage of today. Rain will start to enter the state tonight. After 10 or 11pm rain will start to enter the NorthWest part of Alabama and becoming more widespread by 5-6am Tuesday. So your morning drive looks wet for tomorrow.  Tuesday: Rain will be falling over much of the state tomorrow. Make sure you grab the umbrella on the way out the door tomorrow. Good Morning Alabama!!! PSA: Beginning tomorrow, Monday March 9th, we have a couple of changes and new things coming to Oak Grove Weather Station!!! Every Monday there will be a blog post for the week. In each post it will have your forecast for new work week. Including a Five Day forecast. And much more!!! Beginning Friday, March 13, every Friday you will get a new blog post with your weekend forecast, and a few sneak peak things about the upcoming work week forecast. Also beginning Friday, we will have the latest information regarding the Coronavirus (A.K.A. - Covid-19) on our website where we will have a section for all Coronavirus things. Busy Week in the Weather Department

Good Afternoon Alabama, Make sure if you go out today you have an umbrella with you at all times, because today and tomorrow will be non-stop rain. Could be heavy at times. Flooding Potential: The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has issued a High risk for Flash Flooding across most of Central Alabama for today. Now, this is not a severe weather outlook. This is just the excessive rainfall and flash flooding potential. More pictures at the bottom. Severe Weather Threat Today: The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has put West of I-65 under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) for severe weather. The threat and possibility of seeing a strong storm or two is between now and 3pm this afternoon. No need to panic this is a very low step severe weather threat.
