More Rain and Maybe some Severe Storms??

Good Morning/Afternoon Alabama,

What to Expect the Rest of the Day Today: Clouds are over much of the state, with the exception for extreme SouthEastern Alabama places like Dothan and Troy. This is the visible satellite image at 10:11am this morning.

Today will be cloudy with highs from 65-71℉ today is the last day of dry weather for a couple of days so take advantage of today. Rain will start to enter the state tonight. After 10 or 11pm rain will start to enter the NorthWest part of Alabama and becoming more widespread by 5-6am Tuesday. So your morning drive looks wet for tomorrow.

Tuesday: Rain will be falling over much of the state tomorrow. Make sure you grab the umbrella on the way out the door tomorrow. Rain will continue through out the day, becoming more scattered after around 2pm. Rain chance about 80%. Highs will be in the low 70s anywhere from 69-74 ℉ tomorrow.

Wednesday: Rain will be off and on throughout the day on Wednesday. Highs ranging from 70-76 ℉. You say rain with 70s? something is not right. Correct, we will have to monitor the potential for severe storms after 2pm Wednesday going through to midnight. As of tight now the SPC has no parts of Alabama under any risk for severe storms but they might change. We do note that a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) is our to the West of the state. The Birmingham NWS office has North and West and along the I-20/59 corridor under a Slight Risk and Marginal risk for the rest of their warning area. Threats in the slight Risk looks to be: hail up to Ping Pong size or a tad bigger, and damaging winds up to 60mph. We are not seeing a threat for any brief spin ups but that could change. But as of right now just a low end risk and no tornado threat for Alabama. We will continue to monitor model run and trends if anything changes we will let you know on here and through out social media platforms.

Thursday: Highs on Thursday between 66-75 ℉ Thursday. Rain chances will be lower on Thursday but not zero, showers will be on and off here and there. I am going with a rain chance of 60%. We may have to lower or increase that but right now going with a chance of 60%. There may be a small chance for a strong storm to two but that looks low. We will let you know if that possibility increases.

Friday: Rain chances on Friday are between 30-40%. The American global model tries to push drier air into North Alabama Friday, but that is a bit “iffy” at this point. We will keep the chance of rain in the forecast for now. Highs will in the lower to mid 60s for your Friday.

How much Rain this Week? Rainfall amounts for the next 7 days anywhere from a Trace in SouthEast Alabama to maybe 2.5 for North Alabama. A inch to an inch and a half for along and North and West of I-20/59 corridor.

Look for your Weekend Forecast blog Friday morning. And the next Monday for your work week forecast. Have a great day and enjoy today as more rain comes in tonight!!
