Busy Week in the Weather Department

Good Afternoon Alabama,

Make sure if you go out today you have an umbrella with you at all times, because today and tomorrow will be non-stop rain. Could be heavy at times.

Flooding Potential: The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has issued a High risk for Flash Flooding across most of Central Alabama for today. Now, this is not a severe weather outlook. This is just the excessive rainfall and flash flooding potential. More pictures at the bottom.

Severe Weather Threat Today: The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has put West of I-65 under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) for severe weather. The threat and possibility of seeing a strong storm or two is between now and 3pm this afternoon. No need to panic this is a very low step severe weather threat. But if you go under a warning take action. More pictures and graphics below.

Wednesday's Threat for Severe Weather: This Wednesday we will be seeing the potential for strong to severe storms after 4pm going through 5am on Thursday. This will be a nighttime system so just like last week when we had the threat for severe weather. Charge you phones all day Wednesday. Be ready to loose power, because with the grounds so wet, very little wind will push a tree down onto a roadway or on power lines and etc. The SPC has West of Tuscaloosa under an Enhanced Risk(Level 3 out of 5) and most of the state under a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5). And extreme SouthEast Alabama under a Marginal risk (Level 1 to of 5) for places like Dothan. Church services may need cancelling, but we will monitor model runs and trends. More graphics below.

First Alert Weather Days: Today from 10am through Thursday at 9pm. I have declared all 4 days First Alert Weather Days.We will monitor things and see if Friday needs to be included if we do include Friday, then it will become a First Alert Weather Week. That would be the first time in Oak Grove Weather Station's history that we would issue something like that. A Level of Operations graphic will be made today and sent out.

Just stay weather aware this week as we monitor flooding concerns and the threat for severe weather on Wednesday. We will keep you updated through out the week on flooding and any changes to the forecast regarding Wednesdays severe weather potential.
