Hurricane Sally is Moving Very Slow

There have been changes in the track of Hurricane Sally. I will be explaining the changes and updating you on about impacts here.

New Track? Yes, there is a new track and the track keeps shifting eastward with time. The now projected landfall is anywhere from the MS/AL state line to Mobile Bay maybe around Gulf Shores. As a Catorgey 1 hurricane.

* The mouth of the Mississippi River to the Okaloosa/Walton County Line, Florida

* Mobile Bay

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for…

* East of Bay St. Louis to Navarre, Florida

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for…

* East of Navarre, Florida, to Indian Pass, Florida

* Bay St. Louis westward to Grand Isle, Louisiana

*Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, Monroe, Wilcox, Escambia, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Covington, Coffee, Geneva counites in South Alabama. 


Winds: The NWS office has issued a Wind Advisory for...Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Dallas, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, and Russell counties starting at 7:00 am Wednesday and set to expire at 7:00 pm Thursday. Sustained winds out of the east at 25 MPH with gusts up to 35 to 45 MPH are possible and could blow around unsecured objects. Weaker trees and tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Tornadoes: A few tornadoes may occur this evening through Wednesday across portions of the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama. The SPC has put out a Marginal and Slight risk for SouthEast Alabama. 


Flash Flood Watch: The NWS office a Flash Flood Watch for...Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Blount, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Etowah, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Tuscaloosa counties. The timing is now set to go into effect at 7:00 am Wednesday and is now set to expire at 7:00 pm Thursday. 


Forecasted Rainfall Totals: Anywhere in the Flash Flood Watch area totals could be 4 to 9 inches with locally higher amounts. Much higher totals once you get down to South Alabama and towards the coast. Flooding will be the main concern with Sally. 

First Alert Weather Day: A First Alert Weather Day is still continuing till Thursday. 

State of Emergency: A State of Emergency is still in effect.
