Busy Week in the Weather Department

Good Afternoon Alabama, Make sure if you go out today you have an umbrella with you at all times, because today and tomorrow will be non-stop rain. Could be heavy at times. Flooding Potential: The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has issued a High risk for Flash Flooding across most of Central Alabama for today. Now, this is not a severe weather outlook. This is just the excessive rainfall and flash flooding potential. More pictures at the bottom. Severe Weather Threat Today: The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has put West of I-65 under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) for severe weather. The threat and possibility of seeing a strong storm or two is between now and 3pm this afternoon. No need to panic this is a very low step severe weather threat. First Alert Weather Day for Tomorrow

Good Afternoon Alabama, We are closely monitoring the threat for Severe Weather for tomorrow.  First Alert Weather Day: After consulting with meteorologists across the state and looking over more model data and the newest High-Resolution model data. I have enough confidence to go ahead and issue a First Alert Weather Day starting tomorrow at 12pm and going through 5am Thursday morning.  Level of Operations: Also the level of operations have now been activated at a Level 5 starting at 10am tomorrow. Also all weather instruments have now been activated as well.  Now to the Severe Weather talk.......  What does the High Resolution Model Data say? The newest high resolution shows that there may be 2 waves of Severe Weather tomorrow.  The first round looks to affect the western half of Central Alabama starting as early as 3pm and lasting as late as 8pm. The threat of stronger to severe storms looks to be coming from individual cells to clusters...

Weather Update

Good Sunday morning!!!  ***This blog is ONLY for Church Staff at UHBC & Desperation Church and loca Central Alabama churches across the state!!!!  Fun Fact: Today is Palindrome Day where today’s day 02/02/2020.  Happy Palindrome Day!!!  For the first time in more than 900 years -- 11/11/1111 -- the full 8-digit date today is a palindrome: 02022020.  The next ones will be December 12, 2121 and March 3, 3030. Now to the Severe Weather Potential: Models are starting to think the same thinking. Over yesterday models are wanting to put the severe potential over the southern half of the state. Around Montgomery, Auburn, Dothan, I-85 corridor. But we haven’t got the High Resolution data in yet so much more can change. The instability values are everywhere from 60-1700 Jules per kilogram. Which anything over 1000 needs to be monitored closely. We are still around 80 hours away from the event. So much more change, that could be how strong, threat levels, and timi...
